Giovanna Draws, a love story by Nicholas Leonard

"Giovanna Draws" by Nicholas Leonard is a contemporary love story, but not the kind one is expecting. It's about Patrick, a man walking alone around Lake Quannapowitt in Massachusetts, who meets Giovanna, an art student from Brazil, who needs to capture human vulnerability for her school project.
She asks him to be her subject. He agrees. What unfolds is an achingly beautiful exploration of longing and brief connection.
"I am your angel. Look up at me, Patrick. I'm your angel."
It is not a story about happy endings. 
It's a story about things that define us and stay with us forever. 
It's a story that makes us think of our own brief angels.

The Frogs & The Well - Summary and Analysis | Aesop Fables

 This fable tells us the story of two frogs who had to abandon the marsh they were living at because it dried out. " Two frogs lived together in a marsh. But one hot summer the marsh dried up completely. So they left it to look for another place to live in." So they had to find another home. On their search they came upon a deep well. One of the two frogs considered the well a wonderful place to live in. "By and by they came to a deep well. One of them looked down into it and said to the other, “This looks like a nice cool place. Let's jump in and settle here.” " But his companion was wiser and said to his friend that they shouldn't make a hasty decision because " Supposing this well dried up like the marsh, how should we get out again?". Voice and Verse: Three Original Poems by Nicholas Leonard

Recently, I came across some poems by Nicholas Leonard on TikTok and was immediately struck by their honesty and depth. Nicholas is a writer from Massachusetts with whom I have the pleasure of collaborating on YouTube by narrating his stories. This post is written to share his work here — not just to give it space, but to celebrate it. There is a common denominator in the three poems, or better yet sonnets, I’m sharing —  the reclamation of authentic humanity against systemic dehumanization. Each poem exposes how institutions distort our innate magic, connection and legacy. But crucially - all three end with a unifying call to action, a redemptive defiance, a manifesto to live.
